Take Back Our Education: On School Privatization, Migrant Justice, and Youth Organizing

  • Ethnic Studies Library UC Berkeley (map)

Over the last decades, the educational system in the United States has experienced drastic tuition hikes, curriculum changes to accommodate unreasonable administrative needs, and a steady expansion of school-to-prison/detention pipeline by criminalizing black, brown, and immigrant students. Against this privatization and militarization of schools is the growing number of youth actively organizing resistance for education equity, migrant justice, and international solidarity.

Please join ASPIRE - Asian Students Promoting Immigrant Rights through Education and Anakbayan East Bay for an exchange on youth movement organizing and learn more about our organizing histories and current campaigns this Thursday, April 6, 2017, from 6-8PM, at the UC Berkeley Ethnic Studies Library. The Library is ADA accessible. Dinner will be provided. Invite your friends!
